zima/winter

“Zima” ( Winter)

The sight of snow at night always takes me straight back to the past.

I know my memories are far more colourful than reality. Even the cold feels different, I used to want to escape from it, but now I miss it.

After living many years overseas in a warmer climate, both my hometown and winter have become a fantasy. The night walk to my home, the frost on the trees, the reflections of night lights in the snow…

Earlier this year my small desire to relive one of those winter days became reality. I was in Poland and on the first day of spring, surprisingly, it snowed. I photographed my friend Weronika and the forest on my way home, to keep those winter fantasies alive.

Images are graded in dream-like colours, to reflect on feeling of winter, rather than reality of it.
